Description of sources and methods

At the request of swissstaffing, the market research institute gfs-zürich invited 308 managers of recruitment agencies to participate in a combined online and telephone survey. The survey was conducted in Fall 2017. 129 managers participated in the study. Thus the return quota – for a voluntary survey – is 42 percent. Letters were sent to all managers of swissstaffing member companies. Given the high survey return and a response quota of approximately 17% as calculated according to the whole industry, the responses are representative for the staffing industry in Switzerland.

The number of managers addressed is lower than the total number of member companies. The reason for this: some managers belong to several recruitment agencies in Switzerland or each of their branch offices represents a legally independent company. As is usual for surveys, certain distortions of their representative nature cannot be excluded. For example, experience has shown that managers of large companies participate less often in surveys for reasons of time. Questions about professional ethics might also be more pronounced among association members than in the industry overall.
